Learning, Leading, and Giving Back: RISE 2025 Highlights
2025 was a year of growth, achievement, and new possibilities for students, staff, and partners in the RISE To The Top! program at Southern Miss.
As the fall semester came to a close, eight RISE students proudly completed their academic coursework for Fall 2025—an important milestone reflecting their hard work and dedication. Beyond the classroom, students made an even broader impact through service, contributing an impressive 433 hours of community service. From Edwards Street Fellowship Center and Temple Baptist Church to IDS’s Community Volunteering Club, RISE students showed up with purpose, compassion, and a commitment to giving back.
Hands-on learning also took center stage this semester through internships across campus and throughout the community. Students gained valuable professional experience—and growing confidence—at IDS’s EARN IT program, Southern Miss Student Media, Worthy Stables, and USM’s Baptist Student Union. RISE To The Top! extends heartfelt thanks to each of these partners for creating inclusive, meaningful opportunities that help students prepare for life beyond college.
Several students also stepped boldly into leadership and campus involvement, expanding their connections within the Southern Miss community. Veronica, a junior, was selected to join USM’s prestigious Black Eyed Susans, an honorary women’s leadership organization, and was also initiated into Tri Delta. Demarcus, a sophomore, embraced new challenges by joining the USM Karate Club, demonstrating initiative and a willingness to explore new passions.
Student accomplishments continued to shine beyond the classroom and campus life. Senior Taylor was recognized during the Luckyday Board of Managers visit, while Social Student Partner Ralea was selected to join Southern Style 2026, highlighting the strong relationships and shared experiences that define the RISE program.
As we look ahead, the RISE To The Top! team at IDS is energized by what’s to come. With supportive partners, engaged students, and a community that believes in possibility, 2026 is sure to bring even more milestones worth celebrating. Cheers to a new year—and to rising even higher together.
