IDS Proud to Remain Luckyday Service Site

All 4 classes of freshman Luckyday students

For the fourth consecutive year, IDS is proud to be a service site for incoming USM Luckyday students. Founded by the late Frank R. Day of Jackson, Mississippi, the USM Luckyday program funds scholarships to Mississippi high school seniors who demonstrate leadership skills, are exemplary students, involved in their communities, and need financial assistance to pursue a higher education at The University of Southern Mississippi.

All freshmen in the program participate in the Luckyday Citizenship Seminar, a service-learning class. The purpose of the Seminar is to prepare students to be engaged members of the Luckyday Program, campus community, and the greater Hattiesburg community by understanding their constitutive role in shaping culture. This course introduces the students to the Luckyday Program requirements, servant leadership experience through 10 hours of service, and how to be agents of change in their various communities. IDS’ Interim Executive Director Dr. Jerry Alliston is the affiliate faculty for one of four fall 2025 seminar classes.

Prior to officially joining IDS staff in January 2025, Amy volunteered for over a decade with various IDS programs. In her current role, Amy serves as Executive Coordinator for Philanthropy and Development organizing fundraisers and events, contributing to the development of new programs and services, and touting all things IDS throughout the community. During her free time, Amy can be found gardening, cooking, list-making, and enjoying life with her family.
