Executive Coordinator for Housing Tracy Coleman and Housing Specialist Hope Woods represented IDS at the 2025 National Conference on Ending Homelessness in Washington, D.C. from June 30 – July 2, 2025. The conference brings together service providers, system leaders, advocates, and people with lived experience of homelessness to learn from each other, discuss best practices, and share new innovations in the field.

This year’s conference included a variety of advocacy-focused trainings, interactive skill-building workshops, and deep-dive strategy sessions to help attendees develop their advocacy muscles and prepare them to take action upon returning to their home communities. In total, the conference featured 110 sub-sessions for attendees to choose from, allowing individuals to focus their continuing education on the matters most pertinent to the communities they serve.

Tracy and Hope are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the conference and are so excited to bring home new information and skills to service the Pine Belt through the Project Recovery Rapid Re-Housing Program. Our staff are committed to furthering our professional development and sharing what we learn with our community both through our programs and participation in conferences and events.

The Rapid Re-Housing Program is a project of the Institute for Disability Studies housed on the campus of USM, administered by the Mississippi United to End Homelessness Continuum of Care, and funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which secures safe, stable housing for families experiencing crises such as homelessness or living in a location unfit for human settlement.

Prior to officially joining IDS staff in January 2025, Amy volunteered for over a decade with various IDS programs. In her current role, Amy serves as Executive Coordinator for Philanthropy and Development organizing fundraisers and events, contributing to the development of new programs and services, and touting all things IDS throughout the community. During her free time, Amy can be found gardening, cooking, list-making, and enjoying life with her family.
